Speed and Strength Program

·      Led by Roger Ross - Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach

·      Location - Minnehaha South Campus (4201 West River Parkway)

·      Dates: June 8-July 3 and July 13-Aug. 7

·      Mondays-Thursdays 8:00-9:30am

·      Register for session 1

·      Cost - $100

·      The program will be under the umbrella of Minnehaha athletics, but is open to players from ALL schools in the co-op. Please register for the 8:00am work-out session.

Basic Practice Plan for Mini-Camp and Evening Practices:

6:30-6:45 - Warm-Up - Running + Dynamic Stretches
6:45-7:15 - Indy
7:15-7:30 - Combos - QB's and WR's, DL and LB etc.
7:30-7:45 - Inside Run
7:45-8:00 - 7 on 7
8:00-8:30 - Team
8:30 - Close

Alpine Skiing

Section Meet

Congratulations to Ava Pihlstrom and Will Rekas! Ava skied fast and came in 6th overall. Will also had two great runs and placed 14th overall. Both Ava and will will compete up at Giants Ridge next Wednesday, 2/12. Make

Conference Results

Blake Boys.  Boys won the IMAC Conference Championship

Blake Girls.  Girls won the IMAC Conference Championship

Nordic Skiing

Regular Season.

Good winter.  Blake teams finished near middle of the pack in most races.  A couple of good personal records along the way.  

Section Playoff Meet.  

It was Thursday, Feb 6 at Theo Wirth.  Blake will not advance to State this year. 

Girls Hockey

Regular Season.  The Bears finished the regular season 18-6-1.  2nd in the IMAC.

Playoffs.  Blake is the #2 seed in Section 6AA.  They will host Hopkins/Park in the first round at 2pm on Saturday at Blake Ice Arena. 6AA Playoff bracket found here

Boys Hockey

Regular Season.  Currently 18-5 on the year.  Ranked #2 in the State. Senior night coming up on Thursday night. Thats one of 2 games left in regular season.  

Playoffs.  Seeding will be in a week.  

Girls Basketball

Regular Season.  Currently 14-8 on the season

Playoffs.  Four games to go before playoffs, currently the #4 seed in Sections

Boys Basketball

Regular Season.  Currently 15-4 on the season.  

Juniors Gabe Ganz and Robert Grace IV have both reached the 1000 point milestone for their basketball careers at Blake. 

Playoffs.  7 games to go before playoffs, currently the #3 seed in Sections

Fencing

Regular Season.  Final regular season meet is Sunday, Feb 9th at Holy Family. Record participation numbers this year with 47 fencers.  

State Tournament.  Feb 22 and Feb 23 at SPA.  

Boys Swimming and Diving

Regular Season.  Blake/Breck team just finished their last regular season meet at Edina on Friday night.  The team is currently ranked #1 in the State.

Playoffs.  Section Meet to go to State is Feb 20-22.

October 28th: Fall Athletic Update

Girls Tennis.  

  • The Blake Girls Tennis team won the State Team Tennis Championship with a 6-1 win over Rochester Lourdes for a 5th Straight Championship.  Great article here.  
  • During Individual play, Blake was also very successful:
    • Singles.  Arlina Shen won the Singles State Championship.  Sonia Baig finished in 2nd place losing only to Arlina. 
    • Doubles.  The duo of Bella Suk and Allyson Jay won the Doubles State Championship.  Emily Melin and Caroline Cameron finished 3rd overall.

Cross Country.

  • Section Meet was held on Thursday
    • The Blake Girls CC team finished 1st place and will head to the State Tournament on Saturday, Nov 2nd at St Olaf
      • Molly Liston (2nd place), Jackie Weyerhauser 13th, Caroline Pollack 17th, and Sophia Vezmar 18th all finished top 20
    • The Blake Boys CC team finished 9th overall out of 17 teams.  
      • Shef West finished 10th overall and will advance to the State Tournament as an individual runner
      •  

Boys Soccer.  

  • Defeated St Francis 6-1 in the 1st round of the State Tournament.  Article here.  
  • Will now play Orono on Monday at 6pm at US Bank Stadium

 

Girls Soccer.

  • Defeated Orono 3-1 in the 1st round of the State Tournament.  Article here
  • Will now play Mahtomedi on Monday at Noon at US Bank Stadium

 

Volleyball

  • Won opening playoff match vs Columbia Heights.  Huge win for the program.   
  • Lost to Mound Westonka in the second round to end their season.  

 

Football: 

Defeated Mound Westonka on Saturday 35-14.  SMB Wolfpack will meet Benilde in the Section Championship November 1st, 7:00PM at Benilde.  

 

Swimming and Diving:

  • Completed the regular season this week.
  • Sections start on Wednesday, November 6th at Richfield
