2019 Girls Soccer Coaching Announcement

1/10/19

Blake Girls’ Soccer Community,

The Blake Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Kelsey Hans as our new Head Girls’ Soccer Coach.

Coach Hans just finished her sixth year as an assistant varsity coach for Edina as well as coaching club for Minnesota Thunder Academy (MTA). She played at Lakeville High School where her team went to state 3 of her 4 years and she was awarded Ms. Soccer her senior year. After high school she played Division 1 soccer at Northwestern University. She still holds several season and career records for the Wildcats.  After Northwestern Kelsey earned her M.S in Conservation Biology at the University of Michigan.

Kelsey and her husband Marc live in Minneapolis with their daughters Sydney and Emerson.   She currently works as the Activities Coordinator at Edina High School.

“I am honored for the opportunity to lead an already successful program directed by Coach Menge the last 30 years. Blake has an incredibly strong tradition of developing leaders and I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with these exceptional student-athletes. I am excited to get to know the players, their families and the Blake community over the next few months.” exclaimed Coach Hans.

We are pleased to note that Paul Armstrong will be returning as varsity assistant coach.  Paul has been instrumental in his role at Blake over the past 6 seasons.

The committee was excited about the fit for Coach Hans at Blake.  She focuses on relationships, has a high knowledge of soccer, and cares about development of each player on the team.  A student from our player panel said “she makes me want to play for her”.

Please join us for a Meet and Greet on Wednesday, January 23rd at 6pm in the Bovey at Blake Hopkins Campus.  A lite bite and drinks will be served. Coach Hans will give a brief presentation and be available to say hello to players and their families.

Go Bears!
