Girls Lose to SPA and Minneapolis Southwest

The Blake Girls Soccer Team's six game winning streak came to a halt last Wednesday night after a heartbreaking loss to conference rival St. Paul Academy. The Bears led 2-0 with 7 minutes to go in regulation before giving up three late goals and losing their first game of the season to S.P.A. 3-2.

Junior Jade Sund got the scoring started for Blake after a nice cross from freshman Cate Moe. The Bears built off their 1-0 lead early in the second half when Moe converted on a penalty kick for a 2-0 lead. S.P.A scored three unanswered late in regulation with the game winning goal coming on a free kick from just over 25 yards out.

The Bears traveled to Minneapolis Southwest three days later to take on a tough Lakers team. The Lakers scored in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime and the lone tally would hold up to be the winner. The Bears were defeated 1-0.

The losses were the first of the season for the Bears and drop their record to 7-2-1 overall and 2-1 in IMAC play. Blake returns to action Tuesday, September 19th when they take on IMAC foe Providence Academy at 5:00pm at Aamoth Stadium.
