Girls Beat Minnehaha, St. Agnes, and Heritage Christian Academy

The Blake Girls Soccer team, ranked #1 in Class A is currently on a six game winning streak after wins against Minnehaha Academy, St. Agnes, and Heritage Christian Academy. On their six game winning streak, they have given up zero goals. The Bears currently boast a 7-0-1 overall record and a record of 2-0-0 in IMAC play.

Last Thursday, the Bears went on the road to play Minnehaha Academy at St. Thomas Academy where they defeated the Redhawks by a score of 3-0. After a scoreless first half and nearly twenty minutes of the second half, junior Maddie Tix scored on an assist from senior CC Wallin. Freshman Kate Willoughby and freshman Cate Moe (assisted by Bailey Abraham) iced the game for the bears with goals with under ten minutes to play. Senior Lucia Warner was in goal for the Bears' shutout.

Saturday, Blake hosted St. Agnes. The Bears got off to a hot start with four first half goals. Goals were scored by senior Sara McClanahan (assisted by Moe), Wallin (assisted by McClanahan, Tix (assisted by senior Kyra Willoughby), and junior Morgan Phillips (assisted by freshman Georgia Clark). The second half was once again controlled by Blake as Moe found the back of the net with the assist coming from Abraham. Warner and Libert combined with the shutout.

The winning streak reached six last night, as the Bears played host to Heritage Christian Academy. Moe capitalized on a penalty kick early in the first half which proved to be the winner. The Bears received two second half goals, both by McClanahan. The first was off of a corner kick by Moe and the second from 30 yards out that went over the top of the Eagles goalkeeper. Warner earned the shutout for Blake.

The Bears return to action tonight when they host #10 St. Paul Academy at 7:00pm in an important IMAC showdown.
