To: Blake Athletes and Families Registered for Spring Sports
Blake informed us all that we will continue with our Remote Teaching and Learning Plan (RTLP) for the remainder of the school year to ensure the health and safety of our students, families and employees. It is with a heavy heart that I confirm this cancels the spring athletic season at Blake.
As coaches, we preach messages all the time. I can’t think of a time when a message like “control the controllables” rings more true. Our goals for Blake Athletics don’t change. We want to always create the best experiences we can and develop student athletes focusing on their growth not only in athletic skill but the whole person. I want to thank our coaches who have spent time developing ideas and structure to support both the mental and physical health of our student athletes. We will continue this support for the students and monitor the ability to create opportunities in person when given the green light to safely do so -- potentially in July. We focus on the positives. Every day is a day we are closer to being back. We will be ready for it. This is what we control.
While it is true that we can’t be on campus, can’t practice, and can’t compete, it doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate our seniors. Our athletic department along with each coaching staff is in the process of putting together all the details for our Senior Day for each sport. The plan is to dedicate a different day in May for each sport to focus on the seniors of each Blake program through virtual and social media avenues. More to follow on this.
As always, Go Bears!
