The Blake Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Michael Hinton as our new Head Boys’ Golf Coach.

“Coach” Michael Hinton is the PGA Director of Instruction at Topgolf Minneapolis, and a 24 year PGA Class A member. Michael has over 18 years of coaching experience in the metro, including Augsburg college, Minnetonka Boys, and other local high schools.

Michael has two daughters, Georgia and Olivia, who both play for Hopkins High School. Michael graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Professional Golf Management in 1994. He was awarded the 2011 MNPGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year, and spent 15 years with the First Tee as an Instructor and Executive Director.

“I’m extremely excited about my opportunity to share my coaching experiences here at Blake! We will have fun developing our program and creating awesome lifelong memories for our players!”

The committee was excited about the opportunity to interview and ultimately offer Coach Hinton the Boys Golf Head Coach position at Blake.  He focuses on relationships, has a high knowledge of the game of golf, and cares about the development of each player on the team. A peer coach said of Michael, “He is one of the best player development coaches I’ve met.  He’s a great fit for the Blake community and will have an incredibly positive influence on your boys”.

Coach Hinton would like to start the season off right with a player meeting on February 18th at 4:00 in the MS Library.  He will then host a parent meeting/meet-and-greet at TopGolf on March 10th from 6:00-7:30. Look for Coach Hinton to send additional meeting details to players and their families.
