Tamba Johnson

Tamba Johnson is in his 10th season as the Head Boys' Soccer Coach at The Blake School. In his first season at the helm, Coach Johnson guided the Bears to the Section Final before losing to St. Paul Como Park. In 2016, Johnson led the Bears to the Class A State Tournament and a 3rd place finish. In 2017, Johnson's Bears went undefeated in the regular season and finished with Class A's #1 ranking. The Bears were upset in the section semifinal.  Last year the team took second in state after winning the State Championship game in 2018 off of this amazing play.

Johnson came to Blake after a successful four seasons as the Head Coach of his alma mater, Minneapolis South High School where he led the Tigers to the State Tournament in 2012, as well as coached Minnesota's Mr. Soccer that same year.

Prior to coaching, the Minneapolis, MN native played Division 1 Soccer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before playing professional soccer for the Minnesota Thunder. 

In addition to his coaching duties, Johnson serves as a Financial Representative for Thrivent Financial and is also the Coaching Director for the Minneapolis United Soccer Club.
