The Blake School is proud to have one of the longest running boys’ hockey programs in the state of Minnesota, dating back to 1913. The Blake Boys Hockey Team has made Class 1A State Tournament Appearances in 1995, 1999, 2006, 2007, and 2008. In both 1971 and 1973 Blake captured the Minnesota State Independent School Championship. Numerous Blake Hockey alumni have gone on to play hockey collegiately at the Division I and Division III levels.
The Blake Boys Hockey Program consists of a Varsity and Junior Varsity team who each play a full 25 game regular season schedule as part of the Minnesota State High School League, which includes 10 games in the Independent Metro Athletic Conference. As a program we strive to put the most competitive team on the ice each year in addition to living out our Blake hockey core values of discipline, professionalism, humbleness, relentless pursuit, and leadership.
Our coaching staff brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program, and has been awarded with both individual accolades and team success. Our coaches create an environment that is both fun and competitive, and live by the motto, "If kids don't love it, they won't play or excel at it." Emphasis is put on strong communication, individual skill development, team systems, individual and team video sessions, competitive small games, and a TEAM first environment. Our coaches truly understand the big picture and work to foster an environment conducive for a young person to succeed in both academics and athletics.
The Blake School is the best place to be for a hockey player who is serious about his academics, his hockey, and making sure he is prepared for life after high school!
