Boys Soccer Shows Resiliency in Tie to St. Thomas

Defeated SPA and Tied St. Thomas Academy

The Blake Boys Soccer team remained unbeaten over there last two games as they defeated IMAC opponent St. Paul Academy 2-0 and tied defending state champion St. Thomas Academy 2-2. 

The Bears got on the board in the first half after a great header by Senior Colin McConkey off a junior Lane Lipschultz corner kick. Senior Sean Leblanc added an insurance goal with seven minutes left in regulation as the Bears went on to defeat S.P.A. 2-0. 

In a rematch of last season's state semifinal match, Blake traveled to St. Thomas Academy for a Saturday afternoon contest. The Bears found themselves down two goals and with an injury-laden lineup. Junior Luke Melin went to work first for the Bears cutting the Cadets lead in half. Junior Lane Lipschultz put home the equalizer from 60 yards out. After two scoreless overtimes, the Bears and Cadets ended in a 2-2 tie. 

The Bears currently sit atop the IMAC with a 3-0-1 record and a 6-0-2 overall record. Blake returns to action Tuesday, September 19th when they visit Providence Academy in an IMAC showdown.
