It is with mixed emotions we announce that Lindsay Youngdahl has accepted the Director of Athletics position at The Awty International School in Houston, Texas.  She will start her new role on August 1.

Lindsay has been an important part of the athletic department and the Blake institution overall.  A graduate of Blake, Lindsay played soccer, basketball, track and softball. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College majoring in communication studies and business management and played collegiate soccer. After graduating from Gustavus, Lindsay and her husband Eric moved to Houston, Texas where Lindsay was the Director of Recreation for Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.  A family move back to Minnesota ultimately brought Lindsay back to Blake.

At Blake, Lindsay has worn many hats.  First as the Sports Information Director and for the last 6 years as the Assistant Athletic Director.  She has also served in several coaching roles, most recently as the Varsity Assistant Coach in Girls Soccer.  She has won a State Title and been named Assistant Coach of the Year in the State of MN. In her role as Assistant Athletic Director, Lindsay has effective led the communications -- whether that be in social media or with our new website.  Her work with the professional development of our coaches has been very impactful.  Most importantly, her connections with kids has been the most impressive part of her work.  Students routinely stop in the office just to say hello, as they know they have a comforting place to be.   Her reach is far and wide having been at Blake as a student, coach and administrator for over 20 years.

We are excited and happy for this opportunity for her.  Awty is a great independent school in a place where her family feels called to be.  No surprise, it has an outstanding boys and girls soccer program.  She is going to fit right in and do wonderful things.  Please wish Lindsay well on her new adventure.
